Login Banners

All login devices must display an acceptable use statement, and acknowledgement of that statement must be captured before access can be granted to the device.

Following is the legally approved language for the acceptable use statements in the form of login banners. The Standard Banner is to be used on access to all servers and clients. Routers, switches, and older, legacy systems that can only support banners of 256 characters or less may use the Network Device Banner.

Standard Banner

This is a University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSCSA) computer system. Unauthorized access is prohibited. This computer system, including all related equipment, networks and network devices are provided only for authorized UTHSCSA use. UTHSCSA computer systems may be monitored for all lawful purposes, including approved UTHSCSA security testing. Use of this UTHSCSA computer system, authorized or unauthorized, constitutes consent to monitoring of this system. Unauthorized use may subject you to criminal prosecution. Evidence of unauthorized use collected during monitoring may be used for administrative, criminal, or other adverse action. Users have no expectation of privacy except as otherwise provided by applicable privacy laws.

Network Device Banner

This is a UTHSCSA system. Unauthorized access is prohibited. Usage is subject to security testing and monitoring. Misuse is subject to criminal prosecution. Users have no expectation of privacy except as otherwise provided by applicable privacy laws.
